WRITING
“I write to understand myself - in Czech, and now in English too.”
In Semester 2, my writing is still developing. I’m learning how to organize ideas, build arguments, and use English to express not just what I think, but especially why.
My university assignments
I wrote a few short imaginative reflections about certain topics.
Focus: Clarity, structure, critical thinking, style
Reflection: I noticed how much I’ve grown - in terms of grammar and syntax.
“ If I could swap lives with someone, the first person that comes to mind is a historical figure, Julius Caesar. He was one of the most powerful and influential individuals to ever walk the Earth. I’d love to experience Rome at its peak, witness the grandeur of the Colosseum, and command legions in battle, even if just for a day. I’d choose Caesar not only because his life was so different from mine in every way, but also because I have a deep love for history and a fascination with ancient Rome. “
“My favorite quote is a quote by Napoleon;
“Impossible is a word to be found only in the dictionary of fools.”
I admire this quote because it reflects Napoleon's fearless and determined mindset. I found this saying profoundly true, because everything is possible in a world where imagination knows no limit. If people put a mind and hard work into something, they can achieve anything.
Napoleon believed that if you are ambitious and you strive for it, anything is possible. “
Creative Writing: Rap-Inspired Free Verse
Inspired by Santan Dave, I tried writing a short piece using metaphors and rhyme.
What I learned: Rhymig words, learning US and UK slang
Leaves fall slow, like time forgot
Grey skies hum, and I get lost
Raindrops tap on the window pane
Whispers soft, they know my name
River runs where silence grows
Underneath, a story flows
Golden trees and muddy shoes
Every step still feels like you
Mist rolls in, the light feels thin
Cold wind brushing on my skin
Water sings where words would stay
And carries all the dark away
Definitely rap inspired but written in fall accompanied by slow piano playing so it is more of a poem.
A very short poem/song using simple words but it took me hours to write :) ofc including the notes writing.
Understanding and working mostly with UK slang

I’ve outgrown my old neighborhood; now I live in the suburbs.”
"I came from the mud, no pot to piss in."
